Shoprite Quick Trip

Today was not feeling well so just went to Shoprite for a quick trip.

Bought

4 boxes Luigi Italian Ice  .99 with shoprite card
4 coupons for .50 off each, which shoprite doubles
Cost Free

Tip:  Hold your store card until after all the coupons have been applied.  This way you are getting the full price of the coupon.  For example, with the card these are .99, the coupon doubles to $1.00, my store only gives you up to the cost.  Without card these were $1.69.  By holding the card, I rec'd the full dollar.
In this example it was only 4 cents, sometimes it is a lot more.

It was the shoprite cashier that gave me this type....THANKS

Coupon Organizing/ Notebooks....

A few people have asked me how I organize my coupons.  When I first started I bought 2 notebooks.  One for food coupons and one for obviously non food items.  Each note book is sectioned off with tabs.  I do my by food types ie.breakfast/cereal, drinks, frozen foods, deli etc.  I purchased from Target on sale a stack of baseball card sheets.  Many coupons fit pretty well in it.  The advantages, coupons are already clipped ready to use, easy to locate,  and you can carry the books with you to the store.  Disadvantages include, time to cut out coupons, time to place in the pages amongst others.  My issue was I was clipping the coupons and never getting in the book because of the time it took....So I searched the internet and found another method for organizing which for me works much better.  I still use the notebooks for when have clipped the coupons but didn't use them during the shopping trip.

Will post some picks in a bit of my notebooks

Will post my other system at another time.

Coupons are Like Money

Well I haven't posted here in a long time. Many changes along the way. I know find that I have been effected by the economy and need to watch every penny that I spend.
A little over a month ago I watched Extreme Couponing. Yes it is over the top but some really good ideas from this show.
Starting slowly I started reading and following some of the great sites available. I was a bit leary thinking that using coupons would be a chore, cause me to buy things I wouldn't use and ultimately cost me more money.
I started slowly, Shoprite is local and they have some good sales. To my surprise, I actually did save money and had items that we needs. I then tried Walgreens and CVS, the rewards programs are helpful in these stores and again I am getting things we all need. At CVS I found that I often walked out with rewards that exceeded what I was spending.
So after a month and half I am starting to fall into the groove. It is fun, almost like a drug to go into the store and walk out paying very little. I am able to get items for myself, my 18 year old dtr, my son and his wife, our pets and even help other family and friends. I have even begun saving diapers and other little one essentials for my....hmm will wait on that for another day
My plan is to start blogging about my savings and great finds I come across....Maybe others will find this information helpful in saving money while having some fun too.
Feel free to add your own tips or finds.
