June 18...Saturday...

Well the Cadets first show is behind them...From reading George Hopkins Blog...they had some problems and were not really happy with the score...Guess the amps over taxed the electrical in the stadium and cause some really bad feedback...But not to worry..they have corrected that problem, probably will have the Guard uniforms and flags tonight....and the show should be complete by the 24th...right now the closer is stand still...all those things will decrease the score.

The really good news seems to be that the fans and judges love the new uniforms...so guess they will stay...and I think George is giving a sigh of relief after the huge cost of the uniforms...

To see the scores and standings...go to the discussion forum...you will have to register...no big deal...there you will find, standings both weighted and unweighted, of DCI and DCA. Also photos and lots of great drum coprs stuff....

June 15

Nothing much new here. Heard from Bob on Monday Night...He was off washing clothes and sharing a Pizza with some of the guys. He apparantly fell 2 times during rehearsals(as do many of the members). Once tripped on his own legs, the other the girl next to him got her leg stuck in between his and they both fell( well , guess that could be interesting)...Also says he thinks he broke his toe...but not to worry only hurts when he marches backwards...which is only about 40 % of the time...
Bob also says that the Cadets will probably be making some changes to the corps uniforms. Not because people don't like them, but because visually it seems to muddy the effect. We will have to wait and see...

June 12...Monday...

Well still really hot and humid here and there has been really no rain to speak of. Heard from a friend of Bob's that he saw him at the Bunker Hill Parade in Boston yesterday. He said he looked good, just red from the sun.
Wish I could find some pictures from the parade...but none yet...will keep searching.

This picture is of Holly and Chanel one of her friends along with two other of Chanel's friends. The picture was taken by Taylor. They were on their way to the mall... Posted by Hello

June 12

Well there is alot of discussion about the first show by The Cadets on many of the discussion boards. They have altered the uniforms that seems to be stirring some emotions. But the overall feeling is that this years show is going to kick ass. The horn line is incredible...of course...Can't wait to see the score as the season progresses...

If you want to see more photos go to Bob and The Cadets...

June 11

Well it is another hot and muggy night...and sounds like everyone is trying to stay cool. Bob and the Cadets are performing tonight in Gettysburg PA...this is a non competitive show but finally the group gets to perform before an audience. Tomorrow they have a parade in Mass, then back to PA for more rehearsals, some high school clinics and finally by the weekend the first of the competitive shows begins. Sounds like they are all having a great time even though they are sweating their butts off.

Remember to visit corpsreps and send the emails for the mail drop to Bob and any other members of corps you know...this is what they practice all year for.

June 10th...past weekends fife and drum comp

Well I hear through the grapevine that nothing changes with fife and drummers comps...basically no audience...no real competition same people same corps, and they continue to black ball and discourage any newcomers...really is a shame...but...
What is the point..why do they not just have more of the muster type events and include the combination corps...maybe then more spectators would be involved...and then the organization itself would grow...oh yeah forgot...they don't want new people or new anything...just old...As I said about 1 year ago...someday (soon probably too) the old people will be dead...and so will the activity which is really a shame.
Also heared how one corps (junior combination) looks like old beggers with mismatched white(sort of) sneakers (also ha ha), mismatched white (sort of )pants, with the stripes pinned, and white (sort of ) sweat shirts. Seems this continues to be an ongoing issue for new members parents...really want the kids out of the sweatshirts...but nope...My challenge to all the old people that insist on keeping these wilting kids in sweatshirts..you do it...wear the whitesweat shirts with a wool cape and the tricornered wool hats in the parades, and to all the competitions and all other events just like the kids...then you can make the decisions...It is my opinion that this ongoing sweatshop type uniforms is truely child abuse and should be investigated as such

June 10 Update

Just spoke to Bob just after 7:30 this morning...They are all looking foward to leaving camp and getting started. There has been a rumor floating(actually a post on Drum Corps Planet) indicating that Hopkins let go 15 of the brass line yesterday....Not true, Hop wasn't at camp yesterday and there are no problems at camp, well other than the staff yelling at the corps....Yesterday in 90 degree heat they had to work in partial uniforms and I guess couple of members were late to practice so they all had to do the show in the heat in a very sped up timing...
Hop may not have sent 15 brass members home...but I think they all were thinking yesterday...please let us go home to our pools, and airconditioning and TV...

But today is a new day...course Bob is sure they will get yelled at some more, because they all screwed up on their dot book tests as they had do do the entire show in less than 40...oh well...

Just remember it is all worth it when the crowd roars...
Till later

First of Many...June 8

Hi All,
Will start udating this blog daily unless away so you can all know what is going on with Bob and The Cadets along with the rest of us.
Bob calls frequently usually at about 11:30 at night as that is the time they all are free from their busy schedules. From what Bob says they are all getting stronger, which is a good thing as the shows drill is very fast and hard and they have had alot of minor injuries.
Bob strained his MCL last week, has been icing each evening and taking Advil on a regular basis. I sent him a couple of knee supports for him to use if needed. Monday he had a stomach bug and vomited several times...got him a few hours rest which was much needed. Monday also was eventful as they had a tornado touch down in the area. Left the camp without power, but it is reported that they had dinner by candle light, and they were given glow sticks and necklaces to be able to get around camp...(thank goodness for the souvies truck), power was restored on Tuesday AM.
Bob said that the drill is so hard and they have been waiting for the domino fall to happen and it did on Tuesday...bunch of them ended up falling on each other, and sounds like it went further as the drill was not stopped until there was a whole pile...Hope that doesn't happen during a performance...course it has happened in the past

The Cadets start on their tour beginning Friday...should be a great season...for those that want to attend shows...visit www.yea.org site and click on the cadets link and then the link that takes you to where to see them. If you are unable to travel to the shows...www.dci.org has a season pass where you pay a fee and can download shows, mpegs and can watch live perfomances...well worth the money.

As far as the rest of us...Holly is finally able to get back to playing softball after her fractured wrist...Played her first game and yes the team won...they have had a struggling year...but....
Over this past weekend, had my credit card, cash and other items stolen out of my car in my driveway and they creeps used the card at local gas stations...just waiting to see the total fall out from that...Thanks Mom and Dad for helping keep Holly and I afloat while I try and sort this out...Holly is happy that she will infact have snacks this upcoming week... :)

Bob's Bulldog Talulah had her eye surgery last week and is doing just fine...snorting and snoring is her favorite past time.

Here are some items that Bob is always in need of...
Laundry detergent...if you can find the tabs great...otherwise the small packets of powder from the laundry mat...
Snacks, he and the others love, candy...obviously something that won't melt in the hot weather...and any kind of homemade cookies, gum
Spray sunscreen, he uses Coppertone Sport, continuous spray spf 30

I will be updating the address to send packages to him as the date for sending to him at the YEA office must be by June 10th arrival so unless you overnight...they are sending out a new list of shipping addresses soon, as soon as I get them I will post...

Don't forget to visit the mail drop at this link to send Bob an email that will be delivered to him at the show...this is a great thing and all corps members really enjoy...www.corpsreps.com/corpsreps.cfm?view=emaildrop
